10.22.19: 5 Things You Can Do To CTF Down and Feel a Little More Love in the Trump Era
07.18.19: New Book: Gay Guru Defeats Drama, Confronts Karma, Embraces Dharma

From the press release:

“Out of my body was unleashed the ugliest cry I had ever had. A snotty cry where I hiccupped mucus like I was having an asthma attack. I let go of all the guilt I felt for being gay and the hate for being born into my family,” writes “Sage Sapien” author Johnson Chong, recounting his life-altering purge in the filthy, frigid Ganga River just weeks after leaving his job at Elmo, “the gayest restaurant in Chelsea.” Read the full press release here.

“Sage Sapien” Back Cover Text

Sage_Sapien_Front_Back_Cover_1200px_72dpiAuthor Johnson Chong explores the obstacles and triumphs of being a second-generation Asian American gay man, split between a conservative upbringing and living his truth. Follow his journey through the pangs of youth, to growing self-awareness and life-changing lessons in India and abroad. This is a courageous story of shifting old attachments of self-rejection and shame into a new paradigm of peace and unconditional love. It is about embracing our emotional fumbles and self-deprecating tendencies as opportunities for strength and growth. A unique blend of spirituality, memoir and self-help, Sage Sapien is a universal story of the underdog who steps into their authentic expression.

Johnson Chong talks about the inspiration for the book cover image

“I worked with Derrick Little, who is an artist, kundalini yoga teacher and sound healer based in NYC, and Chad Wagner, a brilliant photographer. Derrick made the symbols that were floating around in my head come to life. I knew I wanted a rainbow somewhere not only as a symbol of my homosexuality, but because the colors of the rainbow also represent our rainbow light body, our purest essence at the energetic level. The red firey bits on my shoulder are actually part of a red dragon that you see in Chinese culture, and in this case, it also anchors me to my heritage with all its conservative values that hurt me growing up. The eye of Horus on my forehead comes from the ancient Egyptian culture and is a symbol of wisdom that serves as a reminder to always connect to my own inner guidance and my own authentic voice even, in the face of opposition. In its essence, the cover is a visual representation of transforming my old wounds into a new story of purpose.”
